🚰How a Water Play Bin Saved My Mental Health 👀

Hello friends!

I hope this blog finds you well. Today, I want to share a personal story about the transformative power of sensory play, specifically how a simple water play bin became my lifeline during moments of intense stress and dysregulation as a parent in the early postpartum days with my second baby and having a toddler to care for, too. (Oh, and not to mention the fact that it was March 2020 and we were all stuck inside, too!) 💦 😵‍💫

Like many of you, I've experienced lots of moments where the demands of parenthood feel overwhelming, leaving me feeling emotionally drained and mentally exhausted. 🥱

Enter the water play bin—a humble yet surprisingly effective tool that became my saving grace. Without fail, water play saves the day every 👏single 👏 time 👏!

As I watched my child delight in the simple joy of splashing and exploring, I found myself drawn to the soothing sound of water and the cool temps of the water, too.  Something I set up for my kid was actually somehow simultaneously supporting my mental health and regulation, too! 🤯

Through sensory play, I discovered a refuge—a safe space where I could breathe, reflect, and recharge my batteries as a new parent of 2, figuring out this parenthood thing one day at a time. 🥰

As I reflect on those moments, I'm reminded of the profound impact sensory play can have on parental mental health. By embracing the therapeutic power of sensory experiences, we can cultivate resilience, reduce stress, and foster greater emotional well-being for ourselves and our families. 🧠 💗

All the best,

Abbie
