Digging Into Discomfort: Lessons from Motherhood and Entrepreneurship

As a mom to 3 young boys and the founder of a small business, I know all about digging into discomfort… (and all sorts of construction “diggers… but that’s a post for another day!)

When I first became a mom, I felt completely out of my element. The constant demands, the lack of sleep, the sheer exhaustion - it was a far cry from my previous ‘somewhat predictable and manageable’ life. But I knew that to be the parent I wanted to be, I had to lean into that discomfort and keep going.. because also, really what choice did I have?

Discomfort is a natural part of growth and change. It's our brain's way of signaling that we're stepping out of our comfort zone and into something new. And research shows that our ability to sit with that discomfort - to not run from it, but to lean into it - is a key component of resilience. When we practice moving towards discomfort instead of avoiding it, we build the mental and emotional strength to tackle even harder challenges down the line.

A few years later, when we decided to start Present Not Perfect, the discomfort hit me all over again. The uncertainty, the self-doubt, the fear of failure - it was enough to make me want to throw in the towel some days, especially when coupled with the added discomfort of now being fully outnumbered with 3 kids! But I kept digging. I kept pushing forward, even when it was painful. And you know what? On the other side of that discomfort *is* growth, resilience, and the most rewarding professional experience of my life.

That's why besides being a total ‘boy mom’, I am so excited about our bestselling Construction Sensory Kit. With its hands-on elements and empowering messages, it's the perfect tool to help kids (and adults!) of all ages learn the power of perseverance. Whether they're working through a challenging new skill, building a mini construction site, or exploring the sensory materials, they'll be reminded that sometimes you have to dig into the discomfort to get to the good stuff.

This week only, grab our Construction Sensory Kit on sale for 20% off using promo code LETSBUILD at checkout and give kids the tools to manage their feelings and tackle life's challenges. 💪 🚧 🧱 *Offer ends 9/22/24 11:59 PM CT.
