Thought Garden

Art Therapy Thursday! 🎨

Anxiety, depression, and yes--even perfectionism, can have sneaky way of taking a hold of our thoughts and changing them to be more hurtful than helpful.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is based on the notion that if we can change our thoughts, we can change our feelings and behaviors, pretty cool huh? 🧠

Art Activity‼️ Work with your child and create your own Thought Gardens. 🎨

👉In your garden have the flowers 🌸 represent thoughts that you want to have bloom and grow in your mind: for example, "I am good enough" or "I can do hard things".

👉Have the weeds 🌿 represent those pesky thoughts that you want to clear from your garden. Thoughts such as "I can't do this" or "I'm going to fail".

👉Is there anything else in your garden? Have fun with your child as you explore this garden metaphors through artmaking.

👉 Remember that your child might be too young to understand this, and that's ok! Maybe just focus on spring and make flowers together, while YOU do the inner work, mama 💖

What thoughts might help you grow? What thoughts do you might need to weed out?
